ATLANTA (December 17, 2024) — The East-West Shrine Bowl today announced its All-Century Team, celebrating the upcoming 100th edition of the oldest college football all-star game in the nation. The distinguished roster features legendary players such as Tom Brady, Paul Hornung, Walter Payton, Roger Staubach, Lawrence Taylor, and Doak Walker, among others.

In addition to the All-Century Team, the College Football Hall of Fame unveiled an exhibit surrounding the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl.

The 100th East-West Shrine Bowl will kickoff on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. CT and be nationally televised in prime time on NFL Network.

“We are honored to have this historic milestone for the East-West Shrine Bowl recognized by the College Football Hall of Fame,” said Dustin Johnson, National Director of Sports for Shriners Children’s. “Showcasing our game’s rich legacy in such an iconic venue underscores its enduring impact on college football and its vital connection to our mission of providing life-changing care for children. This celebration is a tribute to our alumni and fans who have supported our efforts throughout the past century.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for the College Football Hall of Fame and fans to celebrate the history and significance of the East-West Shrine Bowl, the oldest college football all-star game in the country,” said Denis Crawford, Ph.D., College Football Hall of Fame Historian and Exhibit Designer. “We’re happy to help kick off the celebration with our exhibit and we look forward to the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl in January.”

EAST-WEST SHRINE BOWL ALL-CENTURY TEAM

The East-West Shrine Bowl has served as the starting point for many noteworthy NFL careers, including 80 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and more than 200 members of the College Football Hall of Fame. All 80 Pro Football Hall of Fame members that played in the East-West Shrine Bowl are on the All-Century Team.

The East rosters placed 56 players on the All-Century Team while the West landed 44. Five players from the 71st East-West Shrine Bowl (1996) earned a spot on the All-Century Team, the most of any individual Shrine Bowl. Arizona State (5) is the most-represented school among All-Century selections

COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME EXHIBIT

In anticipation of the 100th edition of the East-West Shrine Bowl, the College Football Hall of Fame has created an exhibit showcasing the game’s unique history and impact over the last century. The East-West Shrine Bowl artifacts will be featured at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta beyond the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta.

The collection includes multiple game programs, autographed footballs and jerseys, greeting cards and gift donations from players to former Shriners Children’s patients, and photos from the past 100 years. The oldest items come from the 1929 East-West Shrine Bowl.

Mike Esposito, a player in the 1974 East-West Shrine Bowl, was on-hand to see the display at the College Football Hall of Fame. Esposito, a former Atlanta Falcons running back, has been featured holding a young patient’s hand in the East-West Shrine Bowl logo since playing in the game. Esposito was joined by East-West Shrine Bowl Hall of Famer and Georgia Bulldogs legend Buck Belue, College Football Hall of Fame Historian and Exhibit Designer Denis Crawford, Shriners Children’s Patient Ambassador Parker, and Shriners Children’s leadership.

Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl has benefited Shriners Children’s and its mission to provide advanced care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of the families’ ability to pay or insurance status.

The East-West Shrine Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the best college football players in the world to showcase their talents as top NFL Draft prospects in front of all 32 NFL teams’ scouts and executives. Tickets are available at shrinebowl.com.
