East-West Shrine Bowl Partners with Wilson for One-Of-A-Kind Throwing Session

The East-West Shrine Bowl, the nation’s oldest college all-star football game, has officially partnered with Wilson Sporting Goods to be the official football of the Shrine Bowl as well as a partner in the inaugural “Wilson Throwing Session” at the 2025 event.

The 2025 Shrine Bowl will be giving the top quarterback prospects a unique chance to impress NFL personnel in a structured, ideal condition throwing session to showcase their velocity, release time, spiral efficiency, spin rate and fundamental development. The “Wilson QBX Throwing Session” will occur on Friday, Jan. 24, at our practice facility, giving quarterbacks an opportunity to impress NFL clubs and highlight their abilities using Wilson’s proprietary and industry-leading data capture of each throw. This allows NFL evaluators to ideally conceptualize each quarterbacks style, ability and developmental potential.

“We at the Shrine Bowl are always looking for ways to elevate our players in front of NFL personnel as well as stay at the forefront of data and analytic development in the football space,” says Eric Galko, Director of Player Personnel and Football Operations of the Shrine Bowl. “By partnering with Wilson for this inaugural Wilson QBX Throwing Session, we’re able to accomplish both, giving our quarterbacks an ideal event to kickoff Shrine Bowl practices and educating NFL personnel not only about our quarterbacks, but the development of Wilson’s technology for their own use.”

“Wilson is thrilled to partner with a premier college football all-star game, to improve the scouting process for NFL-bound quarterbacks. QB’s are always the most closely analyzed players and we are excited to capture and share detailed throw data with all players, coaches and personnel at the Shrine Bowl,” said Blake Rus, Global Marketing Director at Wilson Sporting Goods.

Wilson will be using its industry-leading QBX Connected data and analytics to provide metrics about QB arm talent. The Wilson QBX consists of sensors placed in the center of the football to record all throw statistics. That throw data can be used for training progression, talent evaluation, injury recovery and play calling. The QBX system is used by a handful of NFL and NCAA programs around the US. The 100th annual East-West Shrine Bowl will kickoff with practices on Saturday, Jan. 25 through Tuesday, Jan. 28, with the 100th annual game on Thursday, Jan. 30 in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys and in one of the premier sports venues in the world. The game will be nationally televised in primetime on NFL Network. Proceeds from the game will fully benefit the life-changing mission of Shriners Children’s.
